Meetings
Council meetings are generally held on the fourth Monday in the
month, at either Cholesbury or St Leonards village halls. Please
see the What's On page for the date and
time of the next meeting. The minutes of previous meetings can be
found here.
Parish Council Response on the Government’s HS2 Proposals
In February Cholesbury-cum-St Leonards Parish Council appointed a Working Group to draft a response to the government's HS2 consultation. The Working Group reviewed the HS2 Consultation Report; gathered information by studying reports from organisations in favour and against the HS2 proposals; and attended the HS2 Roadshows.
A Parish Meeting to discuss the HS2 proposals was held on Wednesday 15th June 2011 at St Leonards Parish Hall. Around 80 people attended the Parish Council Consultation Meeting. Cllr Nick Rose, our local Councillor and Leader Chiltern District Council gave a presentation on the flaws in the HS2 business case followed by Chris Brown who outlined the Parish Council's draft response to the consultation. There was a lively discussion and suggestions on the form and content of the responses by both the Parish Council and by individuals to the Government's HS2 Consultation.
The Parish Council’s response to the HS2 Consultation which was signed off on 25th June is available to download here.
The Working Group will continue to monitor developments around HS2 over the coming months and pending the announcement of the outcome of the Government’s consideration of the consultation responses, anticipated to be at the earliest in late December though more likely in early January 2012.

Local Planning
One of the important functions of the Parish Council is to
comment on local planning applications received by Chiltern
District Council. Our comments are taken into account but are not
necessarily accepted.
We have a planning committee, which meets every three or four
weeks at either St Leonards or Cholesbury Village Hall.
Applications may also be considered at full meetings of the Parish
Council, which take place every two months. Agendas for all these
meetings are posted on the Council's Notices board at Buckland
Common and at other notice boards throughout the Parish.
Unfortunately, due to the timetable for processing planning
applications, these are posted at fairly short notice.
Members of the public are welcome, and encouraged, to
attend all meetings of the Council, including meetings of the
Planning Committee. You will be given an opportunity to speak on
specific planning applications or any other matters affecting the
Parish, if you so wish.
If you have an interest in a particular planning application you
are usually invited to look at the plans at the District Council's
office in Amersham, where the staff will give you expert advice on
planning matters. Applications are also available to view online
here.
Parish Council Meeting minutes
The Agendas and Minutes of the parish council meetings are
posted on the notice boards. These are located at Cholesbury Common
(in the cricket club car park), Buckland Common (next to the post
box), St Leonards (outside the parish hall), The Vale (outside the
Black Horse pub), and also, if possible, at the blacksmith's
noticeboard in Hawridge.
Minutes from all meetings may also be read here.
