St Leonards

The parish church of St Leonards was erected in the 15th century on the site of a cell of Missenden Abbey. It was rebuilt by General Cornelius Wood in Queen Victoria's reign. Restored in 1845. It contains two 18th century wall monuments carved in chalk. The bell in the spired bell turret records "chandler made me 1702"

Notes about the drawings

Artist - GRAHAM LINCOLN
"Drawings in black ink are my speciality, not least because I am colour blind! Churches and old buildings make excellent subjects. They have few straight lines, lots of nooks and crannies, textured surfaces and creeping plants which can be represented by pen and ink in a very effective way. I use a fine nib pen and get as much detail in my drawings as possible".
